FORMA Design was commissioned to design this 3500sf flagship Surgery Center in Washington,DC for a successful practice that was relocating and expanding. The Asian Zen feeling permeates the space, from the circular reception area with the free-form front desk to the seminar classroom, the elliptical conference room in the core to each of the operatories, work areas and recovery rooms. When it comes to design and functionality FORMA has the right stuff.
This 2000 s.f. space was a second practice location for an established dentist. Her original Dental Office was located in a rural area and her business plan called for expansion into an adjacent more urban and more affluent community. The doctor wanted to build upon her experience with her first office and customize the new Dental Office location to fit the established workflow and processes. The goal was to create a progressive space that would be interesting to all her patients, both old and new. The long and narrow space is organized into public and private zones flanking a dividing central spine and corridor. Thos is a great achievment that has met the doctors functional goals, to provide efficient flow through the space, to eliminate corridor bottlenecks, and provide easy access for staff. Accommodate accompanying parents and allow supervision of staff operations, all while thinking outside the “box”. This was the Winner of the the 2009 Silver Award of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the International Interior Design Association on April 2009.
